When it comes to selling ebooks online, one of the best things that you can do is to start an email newsletter. Ebooks are easy to sell once you have a newsletter to offer to your subscribers. Many people say that the money is in the list, but the money doesn't have to necessarily be in the list.
There are many people online making a ton of money without doing any kind of backend marketing at all. "Backend marketing" is simply the process of selling to their existing customers or clients. Plus, a lot of these people don't have a front end email list to offer either... they simply just get traffic, and lead them directly to their product description page.
So if you're selling an ebook, what route should you choose? Well I think it depends on the price of your product. If you're selling a $7 ebook, it doesn't make much sense to lead them to a squeeze page. It'll probably be better just to lead them to your sales letter page where you can collect an easy sale.
If you're selling a $47 and above ebook or product, your best bet is to generate a lead, and follow up on them. $7 isn't a huge barrier, but $47 is a tougher sale to make. If you're going to generate a lead, make sure you make it a point to drive as much traffic as possible to your lead capture page.
Sometimes depending on what you are selling, it could take a while to get a lead from email marketing. Personally, I like to drive people to my sales letter page, get orders, and then put them into my backend marketing funnel. I find that my customers don't unsubscribe as often as those people who subscribe to my free email newsletter.
I want you to know that you can make a lot of money with your ebook if you put your mind to it. If you go into small niches, you can easily make sales and set up backend marketing campaigns that can get you more sales from your new customers. Focus on finding a niche that is ripe, or is something that you have a lot of knowledge and experience in.
You could immediately become the "obvious expert" in your niche, and people will follow you and trust your recommendations on the suggestions that you make regarding to the issues in your niche. Whatever you do, just don't believe a lot of the hype that you see and hear online.
Keep a narrow focus on your business and make sure you're doing everything that you can to bring promotion and profits to your site. This is something that is very important, and you will want to adapt this mindset if you want to avoid the clutter, and go straight to profitability.
If you aren't getting sales right now, keep marketing. Sales will come, and years later down the road, tons of sales will come - everyday. Keep your eye on the prize, and don't give up with your ebook.
Good luck with selling your ebook online.
