Playing on Social Media Sites Safely

Many people play on the different social media sites that can be found on the internet. These sites can provide you with the ability to stay in touch with your friends and family. They can be a great way to make new friends with common interests. They can be a great place for you to go and play games. They can also be a great place for people who have bad intentions to find their next victim. It is very important that people learn to play safely on social media sites.

You should never publish personal information like your address, your phone number, or your birth date on these sites. With just the previously mentioned pieces of information some people can steal your identity. They can get credit cards in your name and they can even get quick cash loans in your name. Play it safe and keep this type of information to yourself.

You do not want to let people know when you are away from home. When you post on your status that you are going on vacation then you have just let everyone know that it is okay to break into your house because you are not home. Instead of posting that you are leaving you should wait and post the information when you return from your trip. Then you can tell everyone how much fun you had and still be safe.

Do not post the location you are at. Some people like to post on their status reports that they are at work and they will even post the name of their company. Some people will post what restaurant they are eating at or what movie theater they are at. This type of information will allow individuals who may mean to harm you to be able to get to you when you are the most vulnerable. If you do have a stalker and they know you are at the movies then they can set up an ambush for you. If someone does want to break into your home then they will know where you are and approximately when you will be home.

Do not post pictures of yourself in embarrassing or compromising poses. You have to remember that companies that you want to apply for jobs with often check the social media sites for background information on potential employees. If the pictures on your page make you look unreliable they just might cost you the job you want.
